Installation and Fixings

Fixing methods, panel joining, and clip options for safe installation of bar grating.

Fixing Methods

Welding

Panels can be welded to steel supports. Suitable for permanent installations. Requires proper weld preparation and qualified welders. Galvanized panels may need touch-up after welding.

Clips

Grating clips secure panels to supports without welding. Available in various types––fixed, adjustable, or swivel. Allows removable or repositionable panels for maintenance access.

Bolting

Bolts through banding or support angles. Use when welding is not preferred or for removable panels. Specify bolt size and spacing in RFQ.

Stair Tread Fixings

Stair treads typically use brackets, clips, or welded connections to stringers. Nosing and toe plate options for safety compliance.

Panel Joining

Where multiple panels meet, align bearing bars in the same direction for continuity. Use clips or welding at joints. Banding or edge details can be specified for clean panel-to-panel connections.

Clip Options

Clips are available from our Accessories range. Include clip type and quantity in your RFQ when ordering grating panels. For drawing-level notes on saddles vs hold-downs, see the hold-down clips and grating fixings guide on the blog.
