Industrial Platform Access Package RFQ Guide
Buying the platform components as one coordinated package can reduce interface gaps. The RFQ should define scope boundaries, design inputs, documents, finishes, packing, and responsibility for every connection.
What is an industrial platform access package?
It is a coordinated supply scope for the walking surface and the components people use to reach and safely work on it. Depending on the project, it can include bar grating, support frames, stair treads, stairs, handrails, guardrails, ladders, self-closing gates, toe plates, clips, bolts, drawings, and packing by installation area.
The benefit is not simply buying more items from one supplier. It is reducing gaps between interfaces—for example, a stair width that does not match the landing, a guardrail post that clashes with a removable grating panel, or missing fixings at site.
1) Define the package boundary
State exactly which components are included and who is responsible for support steel, connection design, anchors, field measurement, erection, and final approval. Mark free-issue, by-others, and provisional items directly on the scope list.
- Platform and walkway grating panels.
- Support frames, edge angles, banding, and toe plates.
- Stairs, landings, stair treads, and nosing.
- Guardrails, handrails, ladders, cages, and safety gates.
- Panel clips, splice bolts, base fasteners, and loose accessories.
2) Supply the design inputs
Provide the latest general arrangement, structural support plan, elevations, sections, openings, equipment maintenance zones, load criteria, deflection criteria, material, finish, standards, and site location. Identify corrosive, wet, oily, marine, or chemical exposure because it can affect material and surface selection.
If the design is incomplete, request a budgetary quotation with a written assumptions schedule. This is more useful than a low number that omits important interfaces.
3) Create an interface schedule
List each interface and the responsible party: grating-to-beam, stair-to-platform, guardrail-to-stringer, ladder-to-structure, gate-to-guardrail, toe plate around openings, and removable panels near equipment. Include the required connection detail and whether bolts or clips are in the supply scope.
4) Ask for coordinated deliverables
- Panel layout, fabrication drawings, and consolidated BOM.
- Piece marks that match drawings, labels, and packing lists.
- Material and finish certificates required by the purchase specification.
- Inspection plan, dimensional records, and coating records where required.
- Bundle list organized by area, elevation, or installation sequence.
5) Compare quotations on the same scope
